Trump Holds Slim Lead Over Biden In Nevada, AARP Poll Finds

A recent AARP poll shows President Donald Trump with a slight edge over President Joe Biden in Nevada. The poll, released Tuesday, indicates that 48% of voters in the state support Trump, while 45% back Biden.

The inclusion of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the survey expands Trump’s lead to 7 points. Although Kennedy aims to appear on the ballot in all 50 states, he has not yet qualified for Nevada. Bob Ward of Fabrizio Ward polling firm noted that Kennedy’s presence on the ballot would make Biden’s chances of winning Nevada significantly more challenging.

Among voters aged 50 and older, Trump leads Biden by 12 points. Despite this, the AARP poll represents a slight improvement for Biden compared to a previous New York Times/Siena poll, which showed him trailing Trump by 13 points.

Nevada, with its six electoral votes, remains a critical battleground in the upcoming presidential election. Biden secured the state by a narrow margin of 2.7 percentage points in 2020. Ward emphasized that any battleground state could be decisive in the election.

The Senate race in Nevada is also heating up, with Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., facing a tough challenge from Republican candidate Sam Brown. The poll shows Rosen leading Brown by 5 points among all voters, although Brown holds a 5-point advantage among older voters.

Pollster Jeff Liszt from Impact Research highlighted the potential impact of split-ticket voters on the presidential race. The poll found that 43% of older voters are straight-ticket Republicans, 35% are straight-ticket Democrats, and 23% are split-ticket voters, indicating a significant portion of the electorate remains undecided.

The poll was conducted from June 12 to 18, surveying 1,400 likely Nevada voters. The margin of error was not provided.
