Tense Exchange: Rep. Marcy Kaptur Snatches Phone From Man Questioning Biden’s Health

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) was caught on video taking a phone from a man who questioned her about President Joe Biden’s mental health at Detroit Metro Airport. The confrontation, captured and shared by the National Republican Congressional Committee, has sparked debate.

The video shows the man asking Kaptur, “Excuse me, congresswoman, should Joe Biden step down?” After she ignores him, he repeats the question and adds, “Why has the White House been lying about Joe Biden’s declining cognitive abilities?” This leads to Kaptur grabbing the phone, causing the video to cut off.

When the recording resumes, the man confronts Kaptur about her actions. A bystander chimes in, criticizing Kaptur for being “rude and disrespectful.” Kaptur, looking agitated, asks the man for his name and where he lives. He refuses to provide this information, leading her to say, “Then I’m not answering you.”

As she walks away, the man again asks if Biden should step down. Kaptur responds with a firm “No.” The exchange continues with Kaptur questioning why the man is reading from a sheet and asking, “Who owns you?” The man denies being controlled by anyone, asserting his curiosity. Kaptur then exits the airport, maintaining her position.

A spokesperson for Kaptur’s campaign later defended her actions, stating to Fox News, “It’s one thing to ask a question, but an unknown man refusing to identify himself, forcing a camera in the congresswoman’s personal space, is another thing entirely.” The spokesperson also emphasized that Kaptur is focused on delivering federal investment to Northwest Ohio.

This incident follows another controversy involving Kaptur’s communications director, Ben Kamens, who boasted online about having his student debt canceled. This drew criticism from taxpayers, with political commentator Ari Goldkind highlighting the unfair burden on those who did not incur college debt. Kamens has since made his social media account private.

Matthew Foldi, a reporter for the Spectator, later confronted Kamens outside Kaptur’s office, capturing him trying to avoid media attention by covering his head with a hoodie. This ongoing scrutiny adds to the challenges facing Kaptur and her team.
