Christian Student Targeted During Anti-ICE Protest
Blake Jones, a devout Catholic and Turning Point USA chapter member at Colorado State University, faced physical assault and harassment on November 19, 2025, while peacefully writing Bible verses in chalk during a campus protest. The incident occurred as multiple left-wing student groups, including Students for Justice in Palestine and Young Democratic Socialists of America, organized demonstrations opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and cuts to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Jones and fellow conservative students attended as a counter-presence to share Christian messages and discuss immigration policy.
The confrontation escalated when Jones began chalking Bible verses and pro-life messages like “abortion is murder” and “God loves you” on campus sidewalks. One protester approached Jones, called him a “bad Christian” with “hateful beliefs,” and cursed at him repeatedly. When Jones asked to be left alone, the individual allegedly charged at him with raised fists before being stopped by another student. Approximately ten minutes later, the same person returned and spat directly on Jones.
Deliberate Desecration of Christian Symbols
Following the physical assault, other protesters systematically vandalized Jones’s chalk messages in what appears to be coordinated religious harassment. They altered “abortion is murder” to read “abortion is awesome” and changed “God loves you” to “God loves trans people.” Most shockingly, the protesters drew a transgender depiction of Jesus over Jones’s chalk cross and replaced biblical verses with pro-transgender messages, demonstrating clear contempt for Christian beliefs.
This deliberate desecration of Christian symbols reveals the deep-seated anti-religious bias plaguing modern universities. Jones noted that Christianity appears to be “the only religion people feel comfortable openly mocking” on the CSU campus. The targeting of specifically Christian imagery while other religious symbols remain protected exposes the double standard that conservatives have long warned about in higher education institutions.
Campus Security Failures Raise Serious Questions
The response from Colorado State University’s security apparatus was woefully inadequate and raises troubling questions about institutional priorities. Campus police took approximately 25 minutes to respond to Jones’s emergency call, an unacceptable delay for a student facing physical threats. Even more suspicious, officers reportedly informed Jones that five of the six security cameras in the area were not functioning, conveniently eliminating video evidence of the assault.

Jones filed an official police report, but no arrests or disciplinary actions have been announced despite clear evidence of assault and harassment. The broken camera systems and delayed response suggest either gross incompetence or deliberate negligence when it comes to protecting conservative Christian students. This incident demonstrates why Christians cannot back down in the face of increasingly violent opposition, as Jones courageously stated his commitment to continue spreading Christ’s message despite the threats.
