Ryan Garcia, the 25-year-old boxing sensation, has been arrested following an incident at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. According to reports, the hotel accused Garcia of causing an estimated $15,000 in damages, which qualifies as a felony under California law.
Police were called to the scene on Saturday, and Garcia was arrested shortly before 5:45 p.m. TMZ reported that the boxer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs but complied with law enforcement. A video of the arrest was published by the outlet.
Garcia’s attorney, Darin Chavez, stated that the arrest comes at “an extraordinarily challenging time for Ryan, as he has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother’s health.” Lisa Garcia, the boxer’s mother, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and Garcia had seemingly hinted at potential self-harm if she were to pass away.
Following his arrest, Garcia’s social media accounts featured unusual posts, including comparisons to singer Britney Spears and former President Donald Trump. He also asked his followers for prayers and expressed his love for Jesus Christ.
Chavez emphasized that Garcia has been open about his mental health struggles and is currently dealing with an immense emotional burden. The attorney’s team is working to provide Garcia with the necessary resources and care to address his immediate and long-term well-being.
