Last year, more than 5,400 NYPD Officers were injured in the line of duty as New York City entered into an intensifying period of an ongoing migrant crisis that has outraged residents in the sanctuary city.
In 2022, the number of officers injured by suspects stood at 4,724. That was a 20% increase from 2021 when the figure was 3,933.
In the first nine months of 2023, 4,077 officers had been injured. Projections for the entire year would have been around 5,436.

President of the Police Benevolent Association Patrick Henry said, “Well over 5,000 cops were attacked and injured last year — that’s not only a record, it’s a full-blown epidemic.”
“The vicious attacks on police officers we’ve seen recently didn’t come out of nowhere. This dangerous environment has been building for years,” Henry continued.
“It’s not going to get better until those who attack police officers are consistently prosecuted and kept in jail. And that won’t happen unless New Yorkers keep speaking up to demand an end to the chaos.”
The startling numbers come on the heels of a high-profile attack on two police officers by a migrant gang in Times Square, according to The National Pulse.
The brazen attack saw two officers kicked in the head while down on the ground by the cowardly assailants. Four suspects were quickly arrested.
All four of the initially detained were asylum seekers—read illegal aliens—and were released without bail hours after they were caught. Other suspects were caught and some of them were released as well.
New York City’s Democrat reforms can be blamed for the early release, according to the Pulse.
“It’s almost as if New York City is *encouraging* people to beat up their officers,” conservative commentator Collin Rugg posted on X.

With over 5000 police officers injured by suspects in a single year, it sounds as if NYC isn’t trying to contain crime—it’s at war with criminals and the criminals are holding their own.
NYC is soft on crime, and they’re paying the price. Last week NYPD police arrested a group of illegal immigrant thieves in an attempt to crack down on a Venezuelan gang linked to dozens of robberies.
Daily Signal columnist Jarrett Stepman lives in New York City. You can take his word for it when he writes, “This city is buckling under the self-inflicted illegal immigration crisis it’s been handed by our derelict president.”
The Biden administration has declared war on the American people by opening the southern border with Mexico to an invasion of illegal immigration. Liberal politicians in cities that are soft on crime are aiding and abetting the invasion.
They are all enemies of the state.
