Trump Rebukes Jimmy Kimmell On Truth Social During Oscars

During the 96th Academy Awards, former President Donald Trump issued a scathing rebuke of Oscars host Jimmy Kimmell, calling him a “washed up” talent.

On Truth Social, the former president lashed out at Kimmel in a lengthy post.

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmell at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be,” Trump wrote.

The former president suggested that the network broadcasting the Oscars, ABC, “get rid of Kimmell” and replace him with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos.

“Get rid of Kimmell and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Sloponoapoulous,” Trump said.

“He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years — Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” he added.

During the Oscars, Kimmell read Trump’s post and called out the former president, saying, “Isn’t it past your jail time?”

Kimmell has emerged as one of the left’s prominent voices in late-night talk show history. He has, for years, consistently mocked Trump and has advocated for stricter gun control laws in the U.S.

Kimmell has repeatedly criticized the former president. At one point, he whined that he lost “half” his audience because of his opposition to Trump, according to the Daily Mail. His show, “Jimmy Kimmell Live!” has seen a significant drop in ratings in past years.

Trump has been a vocal critic of the Oscars before ascending into politics. The former president last attended the Academy Awards in 2012.

Following the Oscars in 2021, Trump said the event is for “promoting the Democrats.” The former president’s criticism of Kimmell marks the first statement in three years that he’s made concerning the Academy Awards. Before taking office, he complained more about the entertainment aspect of the event and the opinion of several hosts.

Trump last appeared on Kimmell’s show during his 2016 presidential campaign.
