President-elect Donald Trump is gearing up to sign nearly 100 executive orders after being sworn in, signaling a major shift in federal policy. The sweeping actions will focus on border security, energy independence and rolling back regulations from the Biden-Harris administration, according to Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK).
Trump has promised to declare a national emergency to address illegal immigration and dismantle environmental regulations that restrict oil and natural gas production. He also plans to cancel the electric vehicle mandate and reopen oil drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). “I will sign Day One orders to end all Biden restrictions on energy production,” Trump pledged in December.
Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s transition spokeswoman, assured supporters that Trump will act decisively. “The American people can bank on President Trump using his executive power on day one to deliver on the promises he made to them on the campaign trail,” she stated.

Bloomberg reports that Trump will also implement a hiring freeze for federal agencies and require government employees to return to in-person work. This move aligns with recommendations from billionaire Elon Musk and will be overseen by the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Despite the flurry of executive orders, Sen. Mullin pointed out that these actions are temporary unless backed by legislation. “I would like reconciliation so we can start making this stuff into legislation,” Mullin explained, emphasizing the need for permanent solutions.
