Texas Woman Arrested Near White House For Alleged Threats Against Trump

A San Antonio, Texas, woman was arrested in Washington, DC, on Friday for allegedly making threats against President Donald Trump. Christina Montoya was taken into custody near the White House, where she was found with an unlicensed firearm and a magazine, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The MPD acted on information that Montoya had traveled to the capital, leading to her arrest. Trump was in the Hamptons with donors at the time. The police report mentions an “offense start date” of July 20, 2024, but specifics about when the threats were made are unclear.

Montoya was arrested less than a mile from Capitol Hill and approximately three miles from the White House. This arrest comes shortly after a failed assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

At a subsequent rally in Atlanta, Georgia, Trump expressed his gratitude to the Secret Service agents who shielded him during the Butler incident. He recounted the moment when the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire, narrowly missing him. “That was from God,” Trump stated, attributing his survival to divine intervention.

During the Pennsylvania attack, a bullet grazed Trump’s ear, causing minor injuries. Secret Service agents quickly neutralized Crooks, who was shot and killed at the scene. This marked the most serious attempt on a presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan’s assassination attempt in 1981.

Montoya faces charges of possessing an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, and making threats against a former president, with Trump listed as a victim on the latter charge. This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges for high-profile political figures and the essential role of law enforcement in mitigating these threats.

As authorities continue to investigate Montoya’s actions, there is likely to be an increase in security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. The arrest highlights the critical importance of safeguarding public figures and maintaining vigilance to ensure their safety.
