The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is set to receive an additional $200 million for its new headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland, if the latest trillion-dollar omnibus bill passes.
Just the News reported that FBI appropriations have become a partisan issue. The agency has pleaded for new headquarters for years, but because conservatives believe the bureau is biased against law-abiding Christians, Republicans in Congress are hesitant to allocate more funding to the FBI.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) posted an image listing seven items she opposed in the spending bill. The Republican House Freedom Caucus reposted Miller’s post.
Miller opposed measures in the bill dealing with the Biden administration’s immigration policies, funding for the World Health Organization (WHO), abortion clinics funded by taxpayers and the $200 million for the FBI.
I just voted NO on the $1.2 trillion spending bill because it funds the NGOs that are trafficking illegal aliens across our border and it funds the “CBP One App,” which Biden is using to fly illegals directly into our communities. WE MUST STOP FUNDING THE INVASION!

Other Republicans voiced their opposition to Congress allocating such massive funds to the FBI, arguing that using the money for new headquarters is inefficient and wasteful.
The General Services Administration (GSA) has been barred from making a final selection for the FBI’s new headquarters, given administration changes and funding stalls, among other complications.
Republicans like Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) expressed their belief that the selection demonstrates the issues that have plagued the process from the beginning. For example, the GSA chose the site in Greenbelt despite a unanimous vote against the construction of the new headquarters in the area.
The site in Greenbelt is partially owned by the former employer of the woman who decided to choose the area as the FBI’s new headquarters, causing FBI Director Christopher Wray to suggest a potential conflict of interest.
The House held hearings over the site in Greenbelt in December 2023.
Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) condemned the FBI for targeting parents and pro-lifers while “waging a war” against conservatives.
“The FBI labels parents as domestic terrorists, targets pro-lifers, and wages a war against conservative Americans. Their punishment? $200 MILLION for a new headquarters in this ‘minibus,’” Burlison said. “Vote NO.”
In November 2023, the Biden administration announced Greenbelt, a suburb in Washington, D.C., as the FBI’s new headquarters to replace the disintegrating J. Edgar Hoover Building.
