New reports from former staffers accuse Vice President Kamala Harris of fostering a hostile work environment marked by fear and intimidation. The allegations stem from her time as California’s Attorney General and highlight severe verbal abuse and rigid protocols.
A former staffer described how employees were made to stand each morning and greet Harris with “Good morning, general.” Eye contact with Harris was prohibited for all but senior staff members, contributing to an atmosphere of constant fear.
These allegations were detailed in a 2019 op-ed for The Union by Democrat professor Terry McAteer, who shared his son Gregory’s experiences as an intern for Harris. McAteer aimed to reveal “a side of Kamala Harris which the general public does not know.”
“Gregory was also given instruction to never address Harris nor look her in the eye,” McAteer wrote. “Staff members lived in complete fear during her tenure as attorney general from 2011 to 2017.”
Harris has been accused of bullying multiple times during her career. A report from OpenTheBooks.com recently highlighted a 95.1 percent staff turnover rate in her office as Vice President. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) echoed these sentiments in an interview with Fox News, stating, “Nobody lasts very long while working for Kamala Harris.”
These revelations bring to light troubling aspects of Harris’s management approach and her treatment of employees, raising significant concerns about her leadership style.
