Musk Deletes Post On Assassinations, Doubles Down On ‘Puppet’ Remark About Biden And Harris

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is facing backlash after posting, then deleting, a controversial remark on X that questioned why there had been no assassination attempts on President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris. Musk’s post followed a second attempt on Donald Trump’s life, which occurred during a golf outing in South Florida.

In a follow-up statement to the Washington Examiner, Musk clarified that his point was about Biden and Harris being “puppets” of the political system, implying that their positions make them less likely to be targeted. “They will simply be replaced by another puppet who reads what’s on the teleprompter,” Musk wrote, contrasting them with Trump, whom he views as an outsider challenging the establishment.

The Secret Service acknowledged awareness of Musk’s post but refrained from commenting on specific matters. The agency, responsible for protecting U.S. political leaders, assured the public that it investigates all threats seriously. Musk said that he had not been contacted by the Secret Service and admitted the post was a mistake, calling it “dumb.”

Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), expressed similar thoughts during a recent speech, stating that no one had tried to assassinate Biden or Harris in recent months, whereas two attempts had been made on Trump. His comments were addressed during a White House press conference, where press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condemned the rhetoric, calling it “dangerous.”

Despite the controversy, Musk remains a strong Trump supporter, having endorsed him over Harris earlier this year.
