MS-13 Gang Member In US Illegally Charged In Virginia Couple’s Murder

Loudoun County authorities have arrested Marlyn Medrano-Ortiz, an alleged MS-13 gang member and illegal immigrant, for the murder of a Virginia couple in August. Medrano-Ortiz, 18, faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the deaths of Mijal Conejero-Romera and Diego Alexander Wollett.

The tragic incident occurred on August 28 in Sterling, Virginia, where police responded to a report of an argument early that morning. Officers found the couple with gunshot wounds, and they were taken to a hospital where they later died. Medrano-Ortiz was subsequently arrested in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria.

Sheriff Mike Chapman condemned MS-13’s presence in the community, calling the gang an organization that uses “intimidation, crime, and violence” as part of its “tools of the trade.” He expressed concern that gang-related crimes seem to be resurfacing in Loudoun County, after a period of relative calm since he assumed office in 2012.

Chapman, who has long supported efforts to curb gang violence, emphasized that MS-13’s presence should not be tolerated. “There should be no safe place for them here,” he said, echoing sentiments of residents alarmed by the gang’s influence.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case further to determine if additional suspects were involved. A preliminary hearing for Medrano-Ortiz has been scheduled for December 5.

This case has brought renewed attention to concerns over illegal immigration and gang violence, highlighting the need for stronger measures to protect communities from criminal exploitation.
