Mom Asking For Christmas Cards For Military Son Gets Surprise Reunion

Jessica Rivera thought she was going on a live radio broadcast to thank listeners who had sent Christmas cards to her son, Airman Logan Rivera, stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California. Instead, the Atlanta mother was greeted with a heartwarming Christmas surprise.

Jessica, participating in the annual Christmas Wish program hosted by Atlanta’s 104.7 The Fish, had asked listeners to send holiday cards to her 21-year-old son, who was spending his first Christmas away from home. She never imagined the radio station would turn her simple request into an unforgettable moment.

Behind the scenes, the station collaborated with the Air Force to bring Logan home for the holidays. Officers at the base granted him leave and arranged his flight to Atlanta, where he arrived early Thursday morning in uniform.

During the live broadcast, host Beth Bacall asked Jessica, “Wouldn’t it be great if you could hand deliver them to your son?” Moments later, Logan walked in, prompting an emotional embrace as Jessica exclaimed, “Oh my God!” repeatedly.

Logan shifted the focus away from his military service and onto his mother’s devotion. To honor her, Chick-fil-A Atlanta, a partner of the radio station, gifted Jessica a year’s worth of free meals.

“This was a testament to the true spirit of Christmas: bringing people together,” Bacall said. The reunion, filled with tears and joy, captured the magic of the season and the enduring bond between a mother and her son.
