American citizens are losing jobs at a staggering rate while foreign-born workers continue to gain employment, according to the latest report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In August, 1.3 million native-born Americans lost their jobs, while 635,000 foreign-born workers were hired. This troubling trend has sparked criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s policies.
President Donald Trump called the report “shocking” and pointed to the administration’s open-border stance as a key reason for the job losses. “Foreign-born workers are taking jobs that belong to American citizens,” Trump said.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) echoed these concerns, stating that illegal immigration is driving down wages and pushing American families out of the labor market. “The administration’s policies are benefiting foreign workers while Americans are left behind,” Lee said.
In addition to the job losses for native-born Americans, the report also showed a significant shift toward part-time work. While 438,000 full-time jobs were lost last month, 527,000 part-time positions were added. Part-time work often lacks benefits, leaving many families without the financial security they need.
As inflation continues to rise, many American families are struggling to make ends meet. Critics argue that the Biden-Harris administration’s policies are making it harder for citizens to find stable, full-time employment.
Conservative lawmakers and commentators are calling for changes to U.S. immigration and labor policies to ensure that American workers are prioritized in the job market.
