Milley’s Security Clearance Pulled As Hegseth Takes Decisive Action

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has taken immediate action against retired Gen. Mark Milley, revoking his security clearance and cutting off his personal security detail. Milley, who has been accused of undermining military authority, will no longer have access to classified information.

The Pentagon confirmed the move, explaining that Milley’s security detail had been in place due to past threats from Iran. That protection has now been removed as part of a broader shift under President Donald Trump’s leadership to enforce accountability within military ranks.

Hegseth has also ordered a formal review by the Pentagon’s acting Inspector General to determine whether Milley should face further consequences, including the potential loss of a star in retirement. This review will evaluate Milley’s role in past actions that led to disruptions in military command.

In addition to revoking his clearance, the Pentagon is finalizing the removal of Milley’s last portrait from its halls. His first official portrait was taken down on Inauguration Day, and now the second, located in the Army’s Marshall Corridor, will also be removed. Once completed, Milley’s name and image will no longer be recognized inside the Pentagon.

Milley’s continued access to military intelligence had been a growing concern, especially given past incidents where his actions raised questions about adherence to the chain of command. With his clearance revoked, the Trump administration has eliminated any lingering risk tied to his influence.

While Milley received a pardon from President Joe Biden before leaving office, the Pentagon’s latest actions show that further administrative measures remain on the table. An official review is underway, and additional consequences could follow based on its findings.
