Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) had a warning for the Supreme Court this week regarding former President Donald Trump while speaking at Drake University’s Annual Bucksbaum Distinguished Lectureship.
The former congresswoman — a daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and a Never Trump Republican — spoke about Trump’s legal defense that his actions as president have legal immunity due to executive privilege —which allows a president to take decisive actions as the nation’s leader without being hampered by legal challenges.
Raise your hand ✋️ if you're as grateful as i am that the people of (WY) handed Liz Cheney the worst defeat in the history of our body politic and voted in someone who supports Trump…👇… Harriet Hageman

“When [Trump] now is pushing this idea that a president should have complete immunity against any criminal prosecution for anything he does in office and he’s pushed this appeal to the Supreme Court, I think it’s very important that the Supreme Court recognizes what he’s doing is a delaying tactic,” Cheney told the annual gathering at Drake.
According to Cheney’s version of events, the 45th president tried to overthrow the government and overturn the 2020 election results so that he could seize power by force and rule without the support of our Constitution. If those extraordinary premises are true, her conclusion that our justice system appears feeble to allow it would make sense.
“It cannot be the case that a president of the United States can attempt to overturn an election and seize power and that our justice system is incapable of holding a trial and holding him to account before the next election,” Cheney said.

According to BizPac Review, Cheney’s insistence on settling things in court reveals the true purpose of the cases against Trump is to steal the election ahead of time by putting Trump away with lawyers in a courtroom instead of allowing Americans to put their difference to a vote — all while claiming to stand for upholding the Constitution and rule-of-law.
A federal appeals panel ruled last month that Trump can face trial on federal charges that he attempted to overturn the 2020 election results, sharply rejecting Trump’s case that he is immune from prosecution.
The former president — who is the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee for the race in November and leading President Joe Biden in the polls — says the Democrats are practicing “lawfare” and “election interference” through the courts.
