Lawyer Calls Out Daily Beast Over Alleged Defamatory Report

Chris LaCivita, co-manager of President Donald Trump’s campaign, is at the center of a legal dispute after the Daily Beast published a report claiming he received $22 million from campaign entities over two years. LaCivita’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, is demanding the story be corrected or retracted, calling it “categorically false.”

In a letter to the publication, Geragos argued the claims are contradicted by campaign finance records. He also accused the Daily Beast of publishing the story with “actual malice,” a legal term indicating reckless disregard for the truth.

The letter alleged that Corey Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign advisor, provided false information to the outlet in an attempt to damage LaCivita’s reputation. Geragos criticized reporters Michael Isikoff, Hugh Dougherty, and Lily Mae Lazarus for relying on unreliable sources.

“We have reason to believe that these false and defamatory allegations were published… with actual malice,” Geragos wrote, demanding accountability from the publication.

The Daily Beast has not yet responded to the letter, but the controversy has reignited debates over media ethics and accuracy. LaCivita’s supporters within Trump’s campaign argue the report is part of a broader effort to undermine Republican leadership.

As the 2024 election approaches, this incident highlights the challenges conservative figures face when battling negative media coverage. Whether the Daily Beast will address the allegations remains to be seen.
