The ruling is significant because the information that will be brought to light from the divorce case will likely shed more light on the relationship between Wade and Willis. It is also that relationship that could put an end to Willis’ election fraud case against former President Donald Trump.
The judge also delayed Willis’ deposition in the divorce case and put off a final decision on whether or not she has to sit for questioning.
The alleged relationship between Wade and Willis was first exposed by Michael Roman, a co-defendant in Trump’s election fraud case.
Roman’s lawyer accused Willis and Wade of having “violated laws regulating the use of public monies, suffer from irreparable conflicts of interest, and have violated their oaths of office under the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and should be disqualified from prosecuting this matter.”
According to Breitbart, Jocelyn Wade’s attorney wrote in court filings that “Nathan Wade has taken trips to San Francisco and Napa Valley, Florida, Belize, Panama, and Australia and has taken Caribbean cruises since filing for divorce.”
The documents also claim that Willis “was an intended travel partner for at least some of these trips as indicated by flights he purchased for her to accompany him.”
Willis continues to defend her hiring of Wade, who according to the AP has “little prosecutorial experience,” and has not yet denied a romantic relationship between the two.
Willis has also stated her belief that the allegations are racially motivated rather than a result of improper actions.
“I’m a little confused. I appointed three special counselors. It’s my right to do, paid them all the same hourly rate. They only attack one,” Willis said while speaking at Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta. “God, isn’t it them who’s playing the race card when they only question one?”
The ruling to unseal the divorce case is good news for Trump in Georgia and could lead to a criminal investigation of Willis’ alleged corruption.
