John Oliver Tries To Bribe Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

John Oliver, a supposed comedian and host of “Last Week Tonight” on HBO tried to bribe Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on live TV — offering Thomas money and a $2.4 million motor coach to step down from the bench.

The British host attacked Thomas on his Sunday show, falsely claiming that he had been “stripping away women’s rights” because Thomas dared to rule that the U.S. Constitution does not protect women’s right to murder their unborn children and the states should be allowed to make their own laws about abortion.

Oliver also claimed that Thomas has made the lives of Americans “demonstrably worse.”

He then pivoted to trying to bribe the Supreme Court justice with an offer that he claims is valid for 30 days.

“Justice Thomas we have a special offer for you tonight,” Oliver said, according to Rolling Stone. “We are prepared to offer you $1 million a year — for the rest of your life — if you leave the Supreme Court immediately, and never come back!”

He then insisted that his offer “is not a joke,” holding up a legal contract and stating that he would give Thomas “a million dollars a year” until either he or Thomas dies.

Oliver claimed to have consulted with legal experts who assured him that his obvious attempt at bribery was legal under the ethics framework of the Supreme Court, but many commentators and analysts are not sure.

At the end of his show, Oliver addressed the Supreme Court justice directly, stating that Thomas has a “lot on [his] plate right now.”

“From stripping away women’s rights to hearing Jan. 6 cases you definitely shouldn’t be hearing two potentially helping rollback decades of federal regulations,” he claimed.

He declared that along with the million dollars, he would throw in a brand new “condo on wheels” — which he explained was a $2.4 million motor coach with a king-size bed, 1.5 bathrooms, a “f—ing fireplace,” four TVs, and a full-size refrigerator.

“All you have to do in return is sign the contract and get the f— off the Supreme Court,” Oliver added.
