Harris VP Choice Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) Praised Communist China, Misled Students About Regime’s Policies

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), selected as Kamala Harris’s running mate for the 2024 election, is facing backlash over comments he made in the 1990s while teaching at a high school in Nebraska. In a 1991 article from the Alliance Times-Herald, Walz is quoted praising the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) system, describing it to students as a model of fairness where “everyone shares” and the government provides citizens with food and housing.

Walz’s remarks centered on the idea that under Chinese communism, “everyone is the same,” with workers from different professions receiving similar compensation. He highlighted how the government provides basic necessities, painting a rosy picture of life under the CCP. However, Walz failed to mention the brutal enforcement of the one-child policy, which led to forced abortions and sterilizations across China. Instead, he misleadingly characterized the policy as simply a tax on families with more than one child.

These revelations have resurfaced as Walz faces a House Oversight Committee investigation into his connections with Chinese officials. Critics are questioning whether someone who once praised the Chinese communist regime is fit to serve in such a high office.

The Harris-Walz ticket is likely to face increasing scrutiny as these comments become more widely known. For voters concerned about the influence of authoritarian regimes, Walz’s past remarks will raise significant red flags, potentially shifting the momentum of the campaign.
