Passengers on a Frontier Airlines flight faced unexpected delays and cancellations on Saturday when the pilot, Seymour Walker, 45, was arrested aboard the aircraft at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. According to CBS News, Walker was taken into custody by Houston police on an assault charge involving family violence.
The arrest took place around 4 p.m., disrupting the boarding process for Flight 3195 to Dallas. After ensuring the passengers had deplaned, law enforcement officials boarded the aircraft and arrested Walker without incident.
Frontier Airlines addressed the incident and the resulting flight cancellation in a statement. “The activity occurred prior to the start of boarding for Flight 3195 scheduled from IAH to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW). A replacement crew member was not immediately available and therefore the flight was canceled,” the statement read.
Passengers affected by the cancellation were provided with options for a full refund, a credit for future travel, or a seat on the next available flight. The airline also emphasized its commitment to safety and customer service during the disruption.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that it would be looking into the matter. “Airlines report incidents such as this to the FAA office that oversees them, and we investigate all pilot-related issues,” the FAA said in a statement.
