FEMA Bias Allegations Raise Questions About Disaster Relief Integrity

A whistleblower has alleged that a FEMA supervisor instructed workers to bypass homes displaying Trump signs while providing hurricane relief in Florida. The directive reportedly affected dozens of homes in Highlands County, a heavily Republican area, following Hurricane Milton.

Internal communications obtained by The Daily Wire show that Marn’i Washington issued the guidance both verbally and in group chats. Relief workers documented skipped addresses with notes like “Trump sign no entry per leadership.”

One worker said the directive felt wrong, stating, “I volunteered to help disaster victims, not discriminate against them.” Highlands County suffered significant damage, including flooding and tornadoes, but some residents were reportedly left without aid.

FEMA confirmed that Washington has been removed from her role and is under investigation. The agency described the actions as isolated and pledged to ensure all disaster survivors receive assistance.

The allegations have sparked criticism of FEMA’s impartiality and raised broader concerns about the politicization of disaster relief. Whistleblower complaints have called for accountability and emphasized the need for trust in federal agencies.

FEMA stated that over 365,000 households in Florida have received aid following recent storms, despite the controversy surrounding operations in Highlands County.
