The influential Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) threw its considerable weight behind the campaign of former President Donald Trump on Thursday.
In a statement, CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp declared, “now is the time to unite and support the candidate who best can accomplish what is needed to put America back on track.”
Mincing no words, Schlapp accused “extreme leftist Marxists” of infiltrating higher education all the way down to elementary schools. “As conditions at the border, the economy and culture dramatically worsen every day, one person has again clearly won the hearts and minds of conservatives.”

That person, of course, is the 45th president who holds an overwhelming lead as the Republican primary season gets underway. Trump has also been endorsed by the entirety of the House GOP leadership and is swamping his chief rivals.
CPAC noted that Trump is the only Republican candidate who can defeat Joe Biden and thwart his party’s left-wing policies.
The group carries considerable clout among conservatives. CPAC is well known for organizing young patriots through boot camps and is a powerful influence in the halls of Congress.
Trump’s support among the influential group’s members should come as no surprise. The 2024 Republican frontrunner ran away with every straw poll held by CPAC for the election.
The organization enjoys positive relationships with other GOP presidential candidates but is more closely aligned with Trump. Schlapp said the candidate is the best hope to counter Biden and his destructive policies, and the rank-and-file agree.
He noted that voters have heard pitches from all the candidates on how they will save the country “at this most urgent time in history.”
Having carefully weighed their options, the CPAC head concluded that “President Trump will win. He will be the 47th president, and the best for America is yet to come.”
As the 2024 primary season is set to launch, Trump enjoys an insurmountable lead over his Republican rivals. Several already dropped out of the running, and there will undoubtedly be more casualties as he solidifies his position at the head of the pack in the coming weeks.
