Blaze Media Journalist Arrested For Alleged J6 Crimes

An investigative journalist with Blaze Media was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on March 1 over his alleged involvement in crimes committed during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol protests.

Steve Baker is a reporter for Blaze Media who was on site during protests. Although the exact charges he faces have not yet been revealed, Baker was reportedly taken into custody for “non-violent misdemeanors” related to his reporting on that day.

According to a thread posted on X, Baker said that he was informed by the FBI that they had the warrant to arrest him and requested that he turn himself into the agency for “alleged J6 crimes” he committed. The announcement of his “self-surrender,” which was scheduled for Friday, March 1, came out on Tuesday February 27.

Baker explained via X that he was instructed to turn himself in at 7 p.m. on Friday morning to be taken to the courthouse in Dallas, Texas, and be present for a hearing at 10 a.m. He also said that the FBI informed his attorneys that there was “no intention” of detaining him on what he was told are “non-violent misdemeanor” charges.

Prior to his surrender, Blaze Media reported that this is not the first time Baker has been threatened with disciplinary action for his actions outside the Capitol on Jan. 6. He was initially dealt this threat in November 2021.

During an interview with Blaze Media host Glenn Beck, Baker talked about the lack of legal discipline brought upon left-wing activists like Antifa but that conservatives are so quickly prosecuted for various crimes, the most prevalent being the Jan. 6 incident.

Baker said that known conservatives and those who have expressed values that match those professed by “the right” and especially those who are supporters of former president Donald Trump are being targeted in what he called “selective prosecution.”
